Being politically correct has gone too far

This is Larry again.

You probably missed the story, but Sony has recalled a video game that it was getting ready to release very soon. Was it the violence? Was it the blood and gore? Was it the language? Nope. It was because "One of the background music tracks that was licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur'an". Source: http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE49J75I20081020

The game is called Little Big Planet and it's basically like Super Mario if you remember that from the old Nintendo. The cool parts about this game is that you can actually make your own levels and share them on the internet and solve the puzzles with your friends. So instead of having to hand your controller over to the next person in line, 4 people can play at the same time over the internet or even at your own house to solve these puzzles which require you to work together. I won't bore you with some of the other cool details about the game.

Back to my complaint... This is pretty ridiculous. Even the president of the non-profit American Islamic Forum for Democracy disagrees with this move by Sony. Source: http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/3978.html It wasn't even that the music was speaking negatively of the Islam or the Qur'an. It was quoting some of the writing and the song was even by a Muslim. I highly doubt that any Christians would object to a game that had music in a game and part of the music was quoting parts of the bible. Maybe those Japanese executives over in Japan don't understand the freedom of speech.

We're going too far to be politically correct. Make it stop.

Yeah, I more often than not question who is really behind this. Answer: It's usually some lady, sorry it is more often than not a woman, with more time on her hands than she knows what to do with filing a complaint because they like to slowly make this world unfun. It all comes back to the Merry Christmas rant...don't get me started.

It actually started from a Muslim gamer of all things. "Diabate’s song first was initially flagged on the official PS3 message boards by a Muslim gamer who found the inclusion of two verses from the Qur’an in the song to be troubling and offensive."

The lines in the song are: “كل نفس ذائقة الموت” (”kollo nafsin tha’iqatol mawt”, literally: ‘Every soul shall have the taste of death’).
“كل من عليها فان” (”kollo man alaiha fan”, literally: ‘All that is on earth will perish’).

99.9% of the people playing the game would have never even noticed because it was even spoken in a separate language. I think we should just ban him from playing the game. Who gave him a copy of the game anyway before it was out. I'm kindof jealous.

I hope "Julie" doesn't see that... She might call it sexist. "So I suppose you're saying that we should keep women in the kitchen and the bedroom so they won't have time to play video games? Huh? Huh?"

If you moved the kitchen into the bedroom I'de never even have to leave!

It'd sure get hot in there, wouldn't it? (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

Sure with the oven on constantly and me baking all kinds of things, I could see where you would get the impression that it would be quite warm in the room.

Exactly what I was thinking.

For safety reasons, you could put an EZ bake oven in the bedroom. While Man cannot live on bread alone...Woman can live on mini-chocolate cakes forever.

btw, word verification bites. Is it really any form of security?

I agree 100% Kathy! Also I don't know how the word verification got there! Also, I sometimes even have to put it in! ON MY OWN BLOG!

Sarah said...

I fixed it!

Gives new meaning to "another bun in the oven". Don't worry Sarah. I'm not like one of those guys....I'll let you wear shoes so you're not always barefoot.

oh my oh my what a southern gentleman. Even fuzzy slippers would do

I'm thoughtful like that.

Kathy has an EZ Bake oven in our bedroom. Extremely handy for when you have the urge for late-night undercooked cupcakes.

Which is, pretty much, every night.
